چکیده
1. American Dental Association Specification No. 52 for Uranium Content in Dental Porcelain and Porcelain Teeth has been approved by the Council on Dental Materials and Devices of the American Dental Association. The formulation of this and other specifications for dental materials and devices is being carried on through subcommittees of the American National Standards Committee MD156 for Dental Materials and Devices. The Council on Dental Materials and Devices acts as the administrative sponsor of that committee, which has representation from all interests in the United States in the standardization of materials, equipment, and instruments in dentistry. The Council has adopted the specifications showing professional recognition of their usefulness in dentistry and has forwarded them to the American National Standards Institute with a recommendation that the specifications be approved as American National Standards. Approval of ADA Specification No. 52 as an American National Standard was granted by the American National Standards Institute on Sept 8, 1978. This specification will become effective one year from date of publication in The Journal of the American Dental Association.t The Council acknowledges, with thanks, the work of the subcommittee members who formulated the standard:

Treating a young adult with bonded porcelain veneers.
BACKGROUND Esthetic dental treatment for young adults can be challenging. Practitioners often use direct composite bonding in children and teenagers, and often it serves them for many years. However, direct composite bonding has its limitations (such as staining and chipping), and bonded porcelain often is needed. CASE DESCRIPTION The authors describe an 18-year-old woman who sought esthetic ...
متن کاملEffect of repeated firing on fluorescence of porcelain-fused-to-metal porcelains.
T o simulate the bluish-white fluorescence of natural teeth under ultraviolet light,‘-’ dental manufacturers use fluorophors of proprietary composition. Uranium oxides were often used in the past in combination with cerium to impart a realistic fluorescence to dental porcelain.* Uranium is no longer used as a result of increased awareness of possible radiation effects on oral tissues.‘.” Fluore...

Mixed salines, 3-methacryloxypropylsilytriisocyanate and 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane, were used as primers for adhesion of poly(methyl methacrylate) to porcelain teeth, precious alloys and nonprecious alloys. After thermocycle testing, the mean bond strength of the resin to porcelain, silver alloys and stainless steel were excellent. The fracture patterns of porcelain teeth after thermocyc...
متن کاملDetermination of uranium in porcelain teeth by the fission track method.
Porcelain teeth have been widely used in restorative and prosthetic dentistry because of their fine natures in aesthetics and hardness as an artificial denture. Among them there are some to which the uranium compounds have been added in order to simulate the fluorescence of the natural teeth. Recently, it was pointed out by several researchers that the radiations from uranium and its descendant...
متن کاملColor Stability of Polished and Glazed Dental Porcelain in Chlorhexidine
Background and Aim: Discoloration is a major concern with regard to the use of tooth-colored restorations. Type of restorative material and surface treatment are believed to play a role in this regard. This study sought to compare the color change of glazed and polished dental porcelain after 30 days of immersion in chlorhexidine (CHX). Materials and Methods: In this in vitro, experimental s...
